Shirley’s Memories

Created by Sarah one year ago
Back in July 1942, Molly and myself were sent away to stay with relatives in Stonehouse for 6 weeks. On our return we found that we had a new sister. I was asked what we should call her and I liked the name Elizabeth, but was over ruled and the name Brenda was chosen. Late in the 1950s I remember taking Brenda to her first grown up dance. Les and I stayed with her – I’m not sure Brenda enjoyed it very much as Brenda wasn’t much into dancing. My abiding memory of Brenda was her love for her garden and in the latter years we shared a love of the ‘soaps’. We would phone one another to dissect the storylines and plots. All programmes were up for discussion and we would put the world to rights. I miss those chats terribly.
